Worldwide Indexing Event

Have you ever wanted to be part of something bigger than yourself? Sometimes amidst the laundry and diaper changes, I lose my sense of self. About 5 years ago, we had almost 3 kids, my husband was working and going to school, and I was needing something to help me feel like I was making a difference (because sometimes you just don’t feel like you are making a difference in the day-to-day mommy stuff!). Enter family history.

I had taken Family History classes and could never figure out what they were talking about and then was asked to teach a class on Indexing to my ward. I learned how, and have never looked back

Throughout the year there are various events to help get people excited and involved in indexing. This summer, the goal is to join 72 thousand volunteers July 15-17 to index the world’s historical records in 72 hours, making them freely searchable on the Internet and helping families worldwide find their ancestors.

It’s super easy and FUN! You basically look at an old document that has been scanned in and type it into the different fields so that the document is more easily searchable online.

If you’ve never tried it, you totally should. Sign up for free today!
