Have you ever tried shopping for a bridesmaid dress with 5 kids? (let’s just have a moment of silence). My sister in law got married and for the life of me, I was not able to find a dress that fit me and matched her colors. I looked on Pinterest and realized that for 2016 trends, convertible dresses were very popular as bridesmaid dresses.
Have you heard of the convertible dresses, or infinity dresses? I fell in love with these dresses probably a year or two ago, when I first saw this video:
I decided to take the plunge. The problem for me however, was the price. It is hard for me to justify paying big bucks ($50-$150) for a dress when I have spent more time than not in my married life either pregnant or nursing (neither of which I have enjoyed wearing dresses). So, I started searching online for different convertible dress companies and I found one!
Enter Ivon L.A. I searched their clearance dresses and found one in the exact color I needed for $19!!!
I got the convertible maxi in eggplant. My total came to a whopping $24 with shipping and it got to my house 2 days later. I was super impressed! I enjoyed looking at the variety of items that they had available on their website. There were pantsuits, long sleeved dresses, high-low dresses, and patterned dresses. (I thought this one was especially cute.)
There were a couple of things that did surprise me about the dress. I thought that it would have a waistband, which it did not. That would explain why the dress only came in one size. The dress had a seam down the back of it, so I didn’t do any of the styles on the above video where she flips the dress around backward. But the best thing in the whole entire world: The dress was SO LONG! I am 5’10” and have never had a dress touch the floor in my entire life. I could have worn some pretty amazing heals with this dress and it still would have touched the floor. It was amazing!
I just quickly sewed a shirt to go under it so my back wasn’t exposed. Then, I wouldn’t have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction carting around the kiddos.
All in all, I LOVED having a dress that was so long and flowy. I love that each time I wear this dress it can be a totally different look.
Have you tried convertible dresses? What is your favorite way to wear them?
