August Fitness Challenge
Do you need a workout buddy or accountability partner? I have been feeling sluggish and unmotivated to lately, which is always an indication that I am not exercising as much as I should. I figured I would issue an August Fitness Challenge to myself to give me more energy, and extend the challenge to everyone else to increase my accountability.
I have tried so many different ways to work out over the years, and right now I am pretty sold on bodyrock. I usually just get on YouTube and search for their videos. They have many different challenges and programs where you can purchase additional workouts, but I’m all about the free videos posted online.
So, what is BodyRock you might ask? It is exercise focused around HIIT training (High Intensity Interval Training), and I love it! You get a great workout, but with lots of breaks and time to breathe. The workout videos are between 15-30 minutes long which is the perfect length for me. It’s not so long that I have to set aside a huge chunk of time in my day. They are long enough that if I push myself, I am definitely feeling the burn and feeling sore the next day. Plus, many of the trainers have accents, and somehow that makes the whole experience much more bearable for me!
So, if you want to join me in working out for the duration of August, here we go: 21 day Bootcamp! (doesn’t that sound fun?) They do use a jump rope (or skipping rope) quite a bit in this series, so be prepared for that, or just do a whole bunch of high knees. I don’t have any fancy schmancy equipment, just a jump rope, some dumbells, a duffle bag filled with a 25lb bag of beans and a resistance band, so don’t let the lack of equipment stop you from working out either!
