About

Who am I?

I am a homeschooling mom of 8 kids from toddlers to teens. My husband and I have been married 16 years and are still going strong! He teaches Seminary and I stay home raising the kiddos and working on getting my Bachelor’s degree. My hobbies include most things ‘vintage’. Basically, if your Grandma loves it, so do I: knitting, gardening, canning, family history, playing piano, reading, etc.

Why I Blog:

I am here to help women simplify their lives so they can enjoy what matters most.

I have always been fascinated with how large families run (whatever your definition of “large” may be). My brain automatically runs with efficiency as a priority. I love reading about efficient and effective ways these families work and trying those things in my own family. Having our kids close together in age gives me a unique situation and insight into raising a family with efficiency.

Why Maintaining Motherhood:

Maintaining Motherhood is multifaceted. It includes the homemaking, the child rearing, and the nurturing of your relationship with your spouse, and hopefully doing it all with a sense of humor and joy.

I also love the definition of “keeping in existence or continuance” as relating to maintaining motherhood. There are so many scary things out there, and I want a place where good virtues and hopes and dreams for the future of our world can be found. I want a space online where women can see that it’s not all bad and scary. There is still good in the world! Mothers can come together and raise a wholesome generation that can influence the world for good.

Someday my children will grow up and want to know what it was like living “back in the olden days” and how we survived without whatever the latest gadget at the time is. This record can be the how-to guide on everything from babies to budgets, from recipes to reading and many other aspects of life.

I also want to show that although life can be challenging with sacrificing so much of my time, energy, and money on raising a family, it is totally possible to pursue my own passions. I feel like every mom needs a creative outlet, a place to express themselves, and grow. At this time in my life, I want to be a wife and mom first and foremost, but not lose my self identity in the process.
